You know a guy is a hardcore drag racer with a name like Gonzo Travalini and he proved it with a driving performance for the ages at the Perth Motorplex recently. Travalini was competing in the Top Comp category which seems like an an awesome deal because he was in his Ford bodied top doorslammer (Aussie bad ass Pro Mod) lined up against an alcohol funny car in the other lane.

Things are going pretty good for Gonzo as he hauls ass down the Perth Motorplex quarter mile but as he is going through the traps the engine blows a fuel line off, goes dead lean, and then explodes violently. All of this is happening at the fastest portion of the course and Travalini manages to drive the flaming car though it without so much as a hiccup. The thing starts to get in its own oil wig-wags back and forth, but Gonzo keeps after it, never so much as leaves his lane and brings the car to a stop, with it still on fire.

This could have been an awfully ugly deal. One false move with the wheel at those speeds and the car would have been bouncing back and forth off of walls, rolling over, or suffering some other sort of awful fate. We wish there were in car footage because we think that Gonzo must have been on driving son of a gun in there!
