Stuart Greaves: Chris says nothing wrong with his bike. There is a bump just after the finish line that he is well aware of, but just lost grip as he went for the left (rear) brake handle right at that point. At those incredible speeds, the slightest interruption to the aero is enough to tear your arm off. It just starts with one little finger, then another, then your hand... so he never got the brakes on. Terminal speed 373 km/h. Remember Jay Upton had a aero-related crash at the same event 4 years ago at the finish line. His speed was 311km/h, so quite a different world. I saw Chris today. He'll be fine.

Stuart Greaves: Chris Matheson is in good shape. He's having a little rest in Westmead Hospital, a sore foot, a sore head, some friction burns through the leathers on arms and back, but in amazingly good shape for someone who stepped off a motorbike at such a ridiculous speed. Stuart Greaves: Thoughts are with Chris Matheson this evening. He's OK, but being checked over in Westmead Hospital. Hueg HUGE crash - came off the bike at over 320km/h. Probably more like 340km/h. Just checking the footage now. Luckily he's shaped like a tennis ball so he bounced for 150 metres or more before sliding. Leathers and helmet very second hand. Can't same the same for the amazing former world-record holding Nitro Voodoo motorcycle, which won't be repairable after end-for-ending further than anyone has ever seen a vehicle go. Over the sand trap, over the netting, almost over the hill into the next postcode. Best wishes to Chris. Incredible rider, always cheery, biggest nuts ever.
